Kolkata Nagarik Sammelan was established on 6th September, 1987 from its first Conference held in Calcutta University Centenary Hall where Citizens from four corners of Kolkata assembled. The Constitution and Programme of the new organisation was adopted in the conference.
Kolkata Nagarik Sammelan is a forward looking organisation where membership is open to all citizens irrespective of religion, language, age, gender, occupation and political affiliation. Any adult who believes in development, patriotism, and peace can be its member. It is not a wing of any political party.
